Health Checks
Our pets age up to 7 x faster than us, which means that regular check-ups are essential to keeping them healthy and happy.
An annual preventative health examination is recommended so that we can discuss current lifestyle factors, complete a full exam and then set up a management plan for the next 12 months. Even if that may be, keep doing what you are doing they look great!
The peace of mind and focus on helping them live their best life that comes from regular health checks is invaluable.

Home Visit Services
Sometimes things are just easier at home. We recognise this and are pleased to be able to offer a wide range of services at home. These include vaccination, health check, nurse visits, post operative checks and euthanasia. We are even able to provide a transport service for those that struggle to get their pet to the clinic.
For the anxious pets or those who have some behavioural challenges, visits at home are often better tolerated and more low stress for everyone involved. Talking to the team about how this might work for your pet is the best way to start.
One of the most important services we can offer at home is euthanasia. When the time comes to say goodbye, it is often lovely to be able to do this in your pet’s own favourite place, away from the bustle of a clinic. As part of this service, we are able to offer cremation and can organise all of the logistics for you.
Vaccinations
Vaccination is an important part of the preventative health care for most pets. It involves an injection of a small amount of liquid under the skin that stimulates an immune response to dangerous disease encountered by animals in our care. The type of vaccination will vary with species and we tailor vaccination plans to each animal

Core and Non-Core Vaccinations
A summary is provided below, yet we encourage you to discuss the best options for your pet with your vet.
Dentistry
Teeth are very important to us at BVS and we have a core focus on maintaining good dental health for all pets in our care. Why you might ask? It is because good dental health helps to prevent general health problems, but also prevents animals having significant chronic pain from dental disease.
Research shows that 2/3 pets will have some form of dental disease by the age of three. Therefore, raising awareness and starting preventative treatment and diagnostics early in a pet’s life is the best way to a good outcome. Prevention is better than solving problems and so we are dedicated to finding the best methods for your pet as one size does not fit all.
Parasites
Parasites like fleas and worms can cause serious health issues in pets, including skin irritation, allergic reactions, anemia, and potentially life-threatening conditions such as heartworm disease or intestinal blockages, making regular prevention crucial for their well-being.
Fleas are most often seen during the warmer months but as we keep our homes nice and warm throughout winter, we see fleas all year round. Worms are seperated into two broad categories that may affect our pet dogs and cats; intestinal worms and heartworms.

Specialist Referrals
We are general practitioners and while we will aim to provide you with the best care possible, sometimes a specialist referral for consultation, imaging or emergency monitoring will be required. If this is the case, your vet will discuss the options, locations and timing for the appointment.
The whole team will be there to support you as we transfer your pet and make the appointment, as well as in follow up communication and visits.
